With the end the season in sight, there seems to be more questions than answers for Snickas in their final 4 games. In the next 2 weeks Snickas take on the teams sitting right behind them and then the team they are currently tied with a top the standings.
Questions:
-How will tonight's game shape the season? A win tomorrow night will leave only two teams with a chance at finishing first overall. A loss could end Snickas hopes of finishing first overall.
-How important is finishing first overall? Even though second place has an easier playoff round, finishing first overall slots you into the year end League Winners Tournament. It is the one honour this group of players have yet to win. Two years ago Snickas almost tasted the grand prize but came up short in the final.
-Where have all these goals come from? Over the last 2 games Snickas have scored 14 goals and 75 in their 18 games so far this year. Several players are having career years, most notably the very inform winger Paul Stinnett. What most teams are unable to match though with Snickas is their balanced scoring. Snickas feature 5 players in the Top 10 of League scoring.
-Where is Kirk Burgess? The Snickas goalie has been a shell of himself this season. Yet to record a shut out and a goal against average of 3.71, Kirk must find away out of his current slump if Snickas are to go far in the playoffs. Now Kirk isn't totally to blame but a more committed effort to the defensive end may ease some of the heat of the maligned Snickas goalie and his defencemen.
Snickas take on the 3rd placed Swamp Donkeys tonight at the Powerade Centre in Brampton, the puck drops at 10pm. The league has moved this game into the 7,000 seat Spectator rink to accommodate all the ticket request. Tickets are still available but are going fast.
